National Colleges Announces New Bachelor's Degree Programs
Business Management/Information Systems and Accounting/Information Systems Degrees Offer Students In-Demand Skills Through National's Proven Programs in Business & Information Technology
SALEM, VA –The Roanoke Valley Campus of National College ( www.national-college.edu ; 540-986-1800) will begin offering two new bachelor's degree programs during the fall term, which begins September 4. The programs, leading to either a Bachelor of Accounting/Information Systems or Bachelor of Business/Information Systems degree, are interdisciplinary curricula designed to equip students with the accounting, business, and technical skills to manage financial or business information systems in small and medium sized businesses.
"We solicited input from area businesses and professionals working in the field of management information systems in developing these programs," says Matthew Poole, director of information technology programs at the Roanoke Valley Campus. "Graduates of these programs will be well-qualified to work as managers or management trainees in any environment in which a fundamental understanding of networked information systems, databases and information security is vital."
Current National College students are excited about the new programs. Bennie Kemp, a social worker who expects to complete his associate degree in business management from National College in the spring, plans to enroll in the Business/Information Systems program. "Society is looking at technology as a target" for future economic growth, he says. "I'm really fond of computers, as far as the business side of it goes." He adds that he first enrolled at National College as a means of enhancing his earning potential, and sees the new bachelor's degree programs as a further step toward that goal.
Like all of National College's programs, the Bachelor of Business Administration degree offers students small classes, conveniently scheduled to meet students' busy lifestyles. "National caters to the needs of career students, as well as working parents," says Kimberly Shepherd, Branch Operations Manager for AXA Equitable's VA/WV regional office in Roanoke, and a 2006 graduate of National's business management bachelor's degree program.
Founded in 1886, National College is dedicated to the training and education of men and women for a full life and a successful career in a number of fields in business, computers, and health care. The College proudly offers more than 35 academic programs including a master of business administration degree, five bachelor's degrees, and numerous associate degree and diploma programs. Serving 24 communities through campus locations in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, the College currently enrolls some 7,000 students.
