Paramedic Program Receives Recognition

The Roanoke Valley Campus’ Paramedic Associate Degree program was recently awarded an initial three-year grant of accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) after an extensive review and evaluation process. This recognition adds an additional, prestigious “seal of approval” on top of the program’s certification by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
National’s two emergency medical technology programs—the Emergency Medical Technology diploma program and the Paramedic associate degree program—provide first responders with the educational background they need for career success. The diploma program, which can be completed in as few as two terms, prepares students for both the Commonwealth of Virginia and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians’ EMT-Basic certification.
The associate degree program, in addition to preparing students for the National Registry EMT-Paramedic program, also gives graduates the advantage of a college degree with additional career support training. “This makes our graduates more employable, and at a higher salary, than someone without a college degree,” explains Dr. Alldredge.
