National College’s Kentucky & Indiana Campuses Receive Renewed Accreditation
Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges & Schools Grants Six-Year Renewal

The Kentucky and Indiana Campuses of National College have received a new six-year grant of accreditation to offer bachelor’s and associate degrees, and diplomas.  The renewal of the college’s accreditation was announced by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), after a nearly year-long process of review.

“While we fully expected the renewal of our accreditation, this announcement is nonetheless very encouraging news for National College’s students, faculty, and staff,” said Charlotte Brinneman, vice president for National’s Kentucky division.  “It is a re-affirmation of our commitment to providing our students with an excellent education and, just as importantly, helping them establish themselves in their new careers after they graduate.”

The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, founded in 1912, is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. Its accreditation of degree-granting institutions is also recognized by the private Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

The accreditation renewal process involves a detailed application, a thorough institutional self-study, and an accreditation site visit.  Findings and observations of the accreditation team must be addressed by the institution before the final renewal of accreditation is granted.

“A six year grant is an achievement,” said Anna M. Counts, director of compliance and accreditation for National College, noting that institutions receiving a six-year renewal typically receive only a few minor citations that are quickly addressed.  “It is a great accomplishment for our campuses,” she added.

National College has been educating students in Kentucky since 1915.  Approximately 2,000 students pursue a variety of programs in business, computers, and health care at campuses in Danville, Florence, Lexington, Louisville, Pikeville, and Richmond.

Founded in 1886, National College is dedicated to the training and education of men and women for a full life and a successful career in a number of fields in business, computers, and health care. The College proudly offers more than 35 academic programs including a master of business administration, three bachelor’s degrees, and numerous associate degree and diploma programs. Serving 24 communities through campus locations in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, the College currently enrolls some 7,000 students.
