Dress for Success

Dress codes, professionalism, and personal style were the main topics of interest for the “Dress for Success” workshop held October 15th at the Pikeville Campus. JCPenny supervisors Maxine Music and Justin Kilgore of Pikeville gave a presentation to students concerning interview attire, professional styles of dress; and general dress codes in the workplace. A question and answer session ended the workshop with the fashion representatives.
In addition to the workshop, Clinique supervisor Tawnya Blackburn of Peeble’s department store discussed make-up tips and stressed the importance of having a professional look when interviewing for a job. Tawnya explained to students the line of products Clinique has to offer for both men and women. Handouts were given to students from the Clinique advisor demonstrating appropriate ways to apply make-up professionally. Each student received a free gift of facial soap, and various lotions from Clinique. A basket of Clinique make-up samples with a $25.00 gift certificate was won by faculty member Mary Collins.
Also, there was a “Dress for Success” advertising flyer contest for students in Mary Justice’s Microsoft Office Class. Winners chosen for the contest were: Tima Bingham, Jessica Keeton, Elizabeth Thacker, and Vanessa Slone.
