National College's educational programs came to the coal-rich Eastern Kentucky region in 1975. Banking is also important to the local economy, and graduates have found success in these and other business and technical fields. Preparation for medical careers also draws students from throughout the region, including adjacent areas of Virginia and West Virginia, to prepare for their chosen career field.
In 2005, the campus moved to a newly constructed, 11,358 square foot facility built at a cost of $3 million

HillBilly Days

Howard "Dirty Ear" Stratton and "Shady" Grady Kinney, two Shriners with the Hillbilly Clan Outhouse No. 2 in Pikeville, started the festival which is now attended by over 100,000 people and continues to get bigger and better each year. They got the idea from attending a similar event in Portsmouth, Ohio, and upon returning they started their work.
In support of the Children’s Hospital, the Pikeville Campus sponsored a booth with help from the College’s Community Relations Fund. National representatives gave out balloons, bumper stickers, window clings, pens, and cups to festival participants, many of whom showed interest in the College’s career training programs.
Pictured representing the College at Hillbilly Days are work-study student Dara Ousley, Community Resource Coordinator Kelly Clark, Possum Queen (known for her appearance at the festival each year), Career Center Director Katie Smith, Admissions Representative Gary Collins, and work-study student Lisa Hylton.
