Partnership for Veterans

The Lynchburg Campus recently had the opportunity to partner with the National D-Day Memorial Foundation located in Bedford. The National D-Day Memorial Foundation has been presenting a Winter Lecture Series led by William A. McIntosh, President of the Foundation. All proceeds from the series are for the benefit of The Fisher House Program in its service to hospitalized members of the U.S. Armed Forces. The Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times—during hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. Community Resource Coordinator Jane Kuhn worked with April Cheek, Director of Education of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation, to support the Fisher House Program and to further spread the word about National’s Armed Services Recognition Grants available to veterans. Campus Director Bill Baker, Director of Community Development Karen Jackson, Instructor and Vietnam Veteran Marvin Cash, and Community Resource Coordinator Jane Kuhn attended the February 5th Lecture to support the Fisher House Program and offer their gratitude to the Foundation for its remarkable service.
