Health Care Public Education

From the many positive comments from vendors and visitors alike, the March 25th Health & Education Fair at the Louisville Campus was a big success. There were 55 corporate vendors present with most offering scholarships or some form of tuition assistance to their employees. The main focus of the day’s events was preventative health care through public education about the leading causes of death in the U.S. - heart disease and strokes.
The event featured three workshops with area experts in their fields about the prevention and treatment of heart disease and diabetes; recognizing the first signs of a stroke; and financial fitness. In addition to the workshops, students in the medical assisting program performed free blood pressure checks. Special thanks to volunteers from the Whitney M. Young Job Corp Center who helped to staff booths and assist vendors.
