Extern Turned Employee
Jennifer Powell just graduated from the Louisville Campus with honors with an associate degree in Surgical Technology. She finished her externship program at Norton Healthcare Audubon Hospital on Monday, February 25th, and received a call for her first interview the following week. She got the job and is now a surgical technologist in the field less than a month after graduation.
Jennifer is a person determined to give 100% to her future employer just as she did while working towards her degree at National. Just after she started taking classes, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and spent some time in the hospital. But she refused to let that stop her from achieving her career goals.
While in school and at her externship, she took advantage of every opportunity to ask questions and learn as much as she possibly could. With a pleasant attitude and a willingness to lend a helping hand when needed, Jennifer got five letters of recommendations from the surgeons she worked with during her externship which she believes provided a lot of weight to her job interview.
Jennifer is particularly thankful to Instructor Gayle Flippins for her encouragement to continue school during the tough times. She feels very blessed to have a degree and a job and gives praise to God for all of her accomplishments.
