Community Training Partner

The Lexington Campus has yet another new agency partner, the Lexington Day Treatment Center which is operated by the Lexington-Fayette County Department for Social Services, Division of Youth Services. The educational component of the Center's programs is provided by the Fayette County Public Schools System. This agency works with individuals from 12 to 18 years of age who have demonstrated difficulty in functioning in a regular school setting.
Community Resource Coordinator Earlane Cox works with the new Day Treatment Center in conjunction with the Department for Juvenile Justice System as students from both agencies need individual guidance on future career choices. Earlane reports that many of the students are just as focused -if not more- on college and professional careers as a result of their less-than-ideal experiences which led them to being assisted by the agencies.
Renita Wright is a para-educator with the Fayette County public schools and the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice. She graduated from National in 2006 and was reunited with the College through this new partnership. The Lexington Campus is honored to work with Renita and everyone at the Day Treatment Center and Juvenile Justice Systems who are providing career training and guidance for higher education. The Lexington Day Treatment Center staff is a delight to work with and we appreciate their enthusiasm and warm welcome in our partnership endeavor.
