A Family-Like Atmosphere at Work

Harrisonburg graduate Russell Biller has a new job that he is very proud of. Russell graduated from the Harrisonburg Campus earlier this year from the medical assisting associate degree and pharmacy technician diploma programs. He is working as a medical assistant at Blue Ridge Pain Treatment Center in Harrisonburg, the practice of Dr. Sherry. Russell loves his job. He says the office is small with seven employees, and the atmosphere is caring and family-like.
Russell got this job offer upon completion of his medical assisting externship at this facility in May. He was an outstanding student in his coursework and received the E.M. Coulter Award for high achievement in medical assisting. He was also a very motivated and responsible extern.
So it was that when Dr. Sherry hired a physician assistant (PA) for his office, Russell was the perfect person to serve as her medical assistant. The new PA, Rebecca Snyder, begins work August 10, but Russell has already started work at the office with duties including patient intake, updating patient medical records, and administering injections of pain and anti-inflammatory medications. How fortunate for Ms. Snyder that she will be entering a practice where a trained and competent medical assistant with knowledge of this particular office will be there to assist her in her new job of treating patients suffering from pain. We're proud of you, Russell, and know there are great things in your future.
