Enhancing the Professional Image

Two Criminal Law classes in the Paralegal program at the Harrisonburg Campus held a Professional Image Day on January 19. To help them feel like the new professionals they are, students were encouraged to dress as if they already worked at a law firm or a similar office.
Career Center Director Emily Sterrett spoke to each class on creating a professional image without spending large sums of money. She emphasized that when people look their best, it increases their confidence and they begin to feel like the professional they studied to be. She explained that employers pick up on that level of confidence. “Because you look like you can do the job and believe you can do the job, you can more easily convince them you can do the job,” explained Emily.
The students in the law classes voted for the student in their class who they thought presented the most professional image and from both classes four students received multiple nominations. Those four were entered into a drawing for a Sheetz gas card. Congrats to winner Robin Walters (pictured standing, back left)!
