As part of an effort to connect the Harrisonburg Campus with the local business community, various college staff members have been actively participating in events sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce, such as Business After Hours events. On November 5th, the local Chamber held its annual Business Expo for business to business networking on the campus of James Madison University. The event was also open to the public. Both Admissions Director Shara Taylor and Career Center Director Emily Sterrett attended to represent the College. They spent the afternoon networking with other area business representatives.
Virginia’s Secretary of Technology Aneesh Chopra addressed the audience at the Business Expo concerning strategies his office uses to stimulate technology development in the state of Virginia. One such initiative includes creating technology career pathways directly between secondary education, specialized training, and employment. This should be welcome news for current and prospective National College students.
