Graduate Experiences Success

In the last six months life has really changed for Josette Miller of New Market. She went from student to nursery school teacher to medical billing and coding specialist, now with a good job in her field of study.
Josette works at Blue Ridge Pain Treatment Center in Harrisonburg, performing work for which she was well trained in the Medical Billing and Coding and Medical Office Specialist diploma programs at National College. Her job involves billing patient treatments to insurance companies, posting charges, making sure treatments are properly coded for insurance providers so reimbursement is not delayed, following up with insurance companies that do not pay promptly, obtaining pre-authorizations for procedures, and answering patient questions. She reports that she is also trained to work the front desk and help there whenever needed.
National College prepared her well for this job. She has used everything she was taught. In fact, she says she often pulls out her textbooks and refers to them for help on various aspects of her job. She is grateful to NC for the small class size and personal attention she got from faculty. She’s also grateful for the resume help and placement assistance she received.
It took her just a couple of months to find this opportunity, from graduating National College in May, until July when she began her job, and the job has changed her life. It’s full-time, with better income and benefits. Josette is now doing something she loves and knows she is helping people at the same time.
