New Career - Same Company
Brad Kiser graduated from the Harrisonburg Campus this past summer with an Information Systems Engineering degree. He has worked for Shenandoah Building Supply for many years, driving a truck and delivering building supplies. He liked the company so much that he decided to investigate whether or not its Information Technology department could use his newly-acquired skills. In the early summer, he made a formal proposal that the company utilize his new knowledge and experience and they became interested enough to consider it. Through the summer and early fall, Brad had multiple interviews with different decision-makers at different levels of the organization and he was offered a new position with the company as an IT specialist.
On October 13th, Brad will begin his new job for the parent company of his current employer. He will travel within Virginia to the many Capitol Building Supply subsidiary locations. He will be responsible for issues involving the company’s PCs (personal computers) and for training users. He will also be designing and building networks.
Not only is this is good for Brad; it’s good for his employer. Good companies want to keep great people, and with his proven track record and new degree, Brad was able to convince them he was worth promoting. Congratulations on your success, Brad.
