Cell Models

In the very first week of the Spring term, students in the Body Control Systems class were assigned to create models of human cells, labeling all parts and explaining their function. Director of Health Care Education LeeLee Breeden, instructor, admits that this assignment is challenging, especially in the first week of the term; however, their creations were not only informative, but also very creative and artistic. Students created models that were colorful and made from a variety of components from styrofoam and pipe cleaners, to clay or food. Their creations were put on display in the Student Lounge. Everything students learn in this course is based on the cell including the role of the cell with medication and how the cell is affected by the disease process.
Pictured is a model of a cross-section of a cell structure with all its parts identified.
