Setting the Example

Less than a year ago, Amanda Tappy was a student attending classes at the Harrisonburg campus. She graduated in March with an associate degree in the Administrative Office Professional program with the desire to work in a professional office environment where she could utilize her present skills and acquire new ones.
Amanda interviewed for a receptionist position with a local law firm determined to work her way up within the firm. It was due to her sheer determination and hard work that she now assists with the management of daily tasks and legal research under the direct supervision of the attorneys at Miner, Martin &. Hahn, PLC in Harrisonburg.
When Instructor Larry Davis was informed that a former student was employed with the law firm of Miner, Martin & Hahn, PLC he extended an invitation to speak to one of his Business Law classes. On Wednesday, January 9th, Amanda spoke to students in the Practical Law class which is an introductory class that covers the “United States Constitution as it relates to the business community, commercial paper, negligence, criminal law, bankruptcy and employment law.” Not only was this an excellent opportunity for present students to meet with a former student who is achieving their career goals it provided an opportunity to ask questions and set some career goals for their futures.
