Hospitality Operations

Fairfield Inns is building a new hotel in Harrisonburg and is scheduled to open its doors in late August.  Dawn Tusing, a 2002 graduate of the business administration-management degree program, is the new hotel’s operations manager. Dawn spent a number of years working various jobs in the hospitality field, with several national hotel chains, and really loves the industry. When she learned about the opportunity with the Fairfield Inn, she was excited about the possibility of getting back into hotel management, especially with a great company like the Marriott Corporation, of which Fairfield Inn is one branch.  Marriott has high standards in the hospitality industry, and Dawn cheerfully and professionally exhibits those high standards. In her new role, Dawn is responsible for hiring and supervising staff and for sales and marketing, all of which she does with enthusiasm.

Dawn recently called the Career Center at the Harrisonburg Campus for help in finding qualified and motivated staff. The hotel will be hiring approximately 25 people in all categories of hotel work. While the Fairfield Inn is under construction, Dawn, along with the general manager, used a classroom at the campus on July 14th to meet with job applicants from the College and the community. National College is pleased to have a great working relationship with another outstanding business, and we are especially proud of Dawn for her continuing success in her field of study.
