On Friday, August 13, the Florence campus held a special day for both students and their counselors from the Work force Investment Act (WIA) and Vocational Rehabilitation offices with a breakfast and award ceremony. The students began by discussing how their counselors were very supportive in working with them to obtain funding to attend National. They said that the team work between WIA, Voc Rehab, and the College was what made it possible for them to attend school in the first place. Students also spoke to the fact that National had been a huge step in their success. Many of the students felt that the support that they received here was just what they needed to accomplish their dream of obtaining a college degree. One recent graduate, Elizabeth Arole (left), completed her surgical technology program the day before the breakfast and was very proud to announce that she has received a surgical technologist position with Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati. Leslie Ahlers (right), WIA representative, was so proud of Elizabeth and her accomplishments that she asked Elizabeth to be part of their “Success Story” Program. The breakfast ended with the students presenting their counselors with a Certificate of Appreciation and a huge thank you for their support and dedication to their success.
