Amanda Thornton, Surgical Technology student at the Florence Campus, has received an exceptional offer from The University Hospital only five weeks into her externship. Amanda was asked to apply for a full-time position, so she submitted her resume and completed an application. Shortly thereafter she was called in for interviews with the human resources department and the surgical team, and within a week she had a job offer! She is currently in week seven of her externship at the private surgery center of University Hospital. She will start her new career full-time on the day shift with weekend rotation as a member of the orthopedic team and is expecting to start her new position in early June. She is excited and ready to move through the rest of the externship, since she knows that she has a job waiting when she completes her clinicals. University Hospital is a level one trauma center, with a great number of cases comprised of car accidents, falls, and work related injuries. Amanda will make a great addition to the team and the Florence Campus is very proud of her. Way to go Amanda, and good luck on your certification!
