A Success in the Making

Jazmine Carter is one of the first students to enroll in National's new web design associate degree program, at the Cincinnati, Ohio Campus. It seemed a natural for the ambitious young woman, who came to National on the recommendation of her sister, also a student.
"I love technology," she exclaimed. After studying advanced computer technology in high school, she decided it was a field she wanted to continue to pursue. "Plus, [jobs in] computers are there today, and are going to be there in the future," she adds.
A little less than half way through her two-year program, she is really enjoying her classes so far, and is thankful for instructors like Director of Information Technology Programs Jim Cunningham. "Mr. Cunningham, that's my guy," Jazmine says with a smile. "I like how he goes about the class."
It was through Jim that she made contact with Cincinnati-based R&B artist Reggie Calloway (who first achieved fame as a member of the 80's group "Midnight Star"). Jazmine worked with Reggie over the course of about a month to develop his presence on the social networking site Facebook. It's the kind of hands-on experience that few other colleges can offer to students, and a real opportunity for Jazmine to put her newly-acquired skills to the test.
Exploring the potential of social networking sites for marketing purposes is just one of the ways Jazmine spends her time. But everything she does is focused on her goals. Within the next few years, she says, "I expect to be working for a good company, or maybe even building my own...I plan to be successful. I know I'll be successful."
