Creating Opportunities for Students

In partnership with the Charlottesville Campus and eight local agencies, the City of Charlottesville recently sponsored the 2009 Community Job Fair. More than 1,500 job seekers attended the event to speak with the recruiters of the 70 employers representing various business industries.
The job fair planning team, where National College was represented by Career Center Director Anne Brown, provided workshops and class presentations to prepare area job seekers and National students for the event. The planning team also coordinated an image and resource room for job seekers to visit during the event. Professional image consultants were on-site to coach job seekers on proper attire. Business wear and accessories were given to the job seekers to support them in making a good first impression. The resource room volunteers assisted job seekers with completing applications, résumé content review, printing additional copies of résumés, etc. The campus provided a shuttle service to transport National students to and from the event. Several students have reported interviews being scheduled as a result of their participation.
