Community Involvement

Meanwhile back in Charlottesville, Community Resource Coordinator Andrea D. Copeland spent a few hours with the future leaders of America at Monticello High School. The Virginia High School League Leadership Conference brought together more than 500 student leaders, advisors, and coaches from across the state to attend workshop sessions and presentations challenging each person to be better leaders in their schools and communities. In her session Big Leadership for Big Events, Andrea shared with 50 youth leaders how large events are planned, organized, marketed and advertised in and outside of National College. Large annual campus-sponsored events like the Career Fair & Business Expo, Back-to-School Bash, and Partners in Education Luncheon were used as examples to explain how this is successfully done.
