Helping Hand

Rupali Patel has a keen interest in the tourism and hospitality field. She is currently working as a flight attendant but wants to consider all career possibilities in this field. After researching area colleges with tourism and hospitality programs, she decided to attend National even though it is an hour commute.

Rupali takes classes one day a week so she can work a full time schedule. “Since I am a working student I really like the fact that National has flexible classes that can accommodate me.”

Like many National students, Rupali works so she can pay for college and her hard work is paying off. She recently received the Joseph E. Hurn Academic Performance Scholarship for maintaining a high cumulative grade point average.

“Every bit helps, I am glad that there are funds available to students who do well in college to reward them…it’s nice to know that National is helping me pay for my tuition while attending school.”

To be eligible for this award, students have to have successfully completed 48 credit hours, be attending full time, and have a grade point average of 3.0 or better.

With her hard work and dedication, Rupali will soon have many more career opportunities available to her in tourism and hospitality.
