All In The Family

Everyone has family traditions they hold near and dear; but in Melinda Ridler’s family, attending National College has become a tradition within itself.

Melinda started National College in 2005 when both she and her husband, Kenneth, enrolled at the Pikeville Campus. After they graduated together in March of 2006, Melinda continued her education with the Medical Assisting program. She achieved her goal once again, graduating from that program in August of 2007.

Three generations of National College students!

Melinda’s example of educational achievement inspired daughters Katie and Rachel Johnson to follow in her footsteps. Katie and Rachel both entered the medical assisting program at the Pikeville Campus in December of 2008. It is easy to tell how proud Melinda is as she smiles when she speaks of her daughters attending school for the same program she once completed!

As if this wasn’t enough to establish a family tradition, Melinda revealed that even her mother, Mary (Hall) Mullins, had also graduated from National College back in the mid 1980’s as well! What an exciting educational history to draw upon! In the meantime, while Katie and Rachel are working towards completion of their associate degrees; Melinda is still setting goals and proving to be a good example. She recently passed her Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination with the American Association of Medical Assistants. Melinda credits her education from National College with helping her better the skills she has attained; and enjoys the rewards of helping others!
