Miss Independent
Knoxville Campus pharmacy technician student Jessica McClymonds (center) was recently awarded a $500 Imagine America Promise Scholarship due to her outstanding academic record.
“Jessica is an exceptional student who has excelled in her studies at the Knoxville Campus,” says Frank Alvey, Campus Director. “She’s a great example of a young person with the determination and self-reliance that one needs to become successful.”
The Imagine America Promise Scholarship is a follow-on to the award-winning Imagine America High School Scholarship. The Imagine America High School Scholarship exists to aid high school seniors planning to attend a career college like National College. This scholarship is privately funded through the Imagine America Foundation (www.imagine-america.org) and up to three $1,000 scholarships may be awarded for each participating high school. Jessica is a 2007 graduate of Loudon High School, and was selected that year to receive the Imagine America High School Scholarship.
I just wanted to do something [where] I could just go out and make it on my own
Jessica came to the Knoxville Campus out of a desire for financial independence. “I just wanted to do something [where] I could just go out and make it on my own without having to rely on anybody,” she says. What Jessica likes most about the Knoxville Campus are the caring faculty and staff. “Everyone is really nice,” says Jessica. “If you need the help, it’s there.”
That spirit was never more evident when staff members Financial Planning Representative Summer Weaver (above, left) and Career Center Director Terrye Whitaker (right) stepped up to recommend Jessica for the Promise Scholarship. Their letter of recommendation was instrumental in helping to secure the award.
Jessica, congratulations on your achievement and we wish you continued success!
