Fit to Learn

Nashville Campus business administration—management graduate Judah Lando came to Tennessee from his native Alabama with dreams of playing college football. But after a couple of years, he admits “I found that football wasn’t what it was cracked up to be.” He dropped out of school and found himself thrust into “the real world.” After a year, he knew he had to get back in school.
Once I got here, I realized I could do it…
He found out about National College, and decided to enroll. “Once I got here, I realized I could do it,” he says. “It totally changed my mindset…[when I first started college] I came to ‘live the college dream’ – the parties, the girls,” he says with a smile. “[Coming to National] you have that one-on-one attention…it really got me understanding what I want to do.”
Now he has a plan, a focus for the next ten years of his life: to start his own personal training business. It’s a plan that will not only benefit him, but the greater community as well. “It’s an epidemic now, with the obesity rate,” he explains. “Especially teenage obesity, I want to get towards mentoring teens…be a role model for younger kids.”
In addition to his classroom growth, Judah also was able to develop his leadership skills as president of the Student Activities Council. He is proud of the activities they planned and carried out, and especially seeing other students contribute to student life. “It’s amazing to see people with their ideas come full circle, to see their ideas actually take place.”
…it was a good experience to jump start my life.
Judah has no doubts about the transformation he experienced at National College. “National College was an experience…I learned so much more,” he says. “It was a good experience to jump start my life.”
