A New Career!
Like many National College employees, Vianne Greek is herself a National grad, having earned her Master of Business Administration degree from the Roanoke Valley Campus in 2007. Like many of her fellow graduates, Vianne enjoys telling others about her positive experience and encouraging them to consider National College for their own career education. It just happens that’s also her job!
As Director of Marketing, Vianne is responsible for identifying prospective students and putting them in touch with admissions representatives at all 24 of the College’s campus locations. With the college educating more than 10,000 students a year, Vianne’s job is a complex one. A typical week for Vianne involves analysis of admissions data, managing the production workflow for the college’s creative staff, and numerous meetings and phone calls with campus staff and vendors.
“I enjoy practically everything about my job…I love dealing with people, analyzing data and working on creatives,” says Vianne. “My favorite part is probably seeing a final produced piece in the newspaper or a printed brochure. I had a hand in creating that, and it feels good to see it in its final form.”
"The experience at National College has certainly changed my life, and I know it can change yours too."
Vianne’s path to her new position was an interesting one. Her previous position as a database administrator for a local laboratory was enjoyable, but not something she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Having earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Waikato in New Zealand, Vianne was looking to get back to her original fields of study. She thus decided to pursue a Master of Business Administration degree, and found the one offered by National College’s Roanoke Valley campus was perfect for her needs.
Not long after she enrolled, she learned of a new opening in the College’s institutional development department as a researcher and data analyst. It turned out to be a great match for her and gave her a chance to put her newly acquired business and marketing training to work. When the position of marketing director for the College became open last year, Vianne was a natural fit.
“I believe in the promise of National College of helping people change their lives for the better,” says Vianne. She can deliver an unequivocal message to prospective students as well: “The experience at National College has certainly changed my life, and I know it can change yours too.”
