Lifetime Benefits Pay Off

Lila Egnor graduated with high honors from the Dayton Area Campus’ pharmacy technician program at the end of the Winter 2006 term. Although pregnant with her 4th child, she was determined to finish, and she was recognized with the Achievement Award at the 2006 Commencement Ceremonies. She was unable to work after graduation due to the pregnancy and her husband was also in the middle of a transfer to Tennessee, so Lila and family went.
Do not give up, stay focused, and study!
Last fall Lila popped into the Dayton Area Campus to say hello and ask about employment opportunities. Her husband had been transferred back to Dayton. She worked with Career Center Director Sue Wallace to put a résumé together and applied at numerous retail pharmacies.
To prepare for her job search, Lila pulled her textbooks out and did extensive pharmacy review work and talked to some of her past instructors for refresher tips. It paid off quickly as Kroger offered her a Pharmacy Technician position after she was called in for an interview.
Lila has worked her way up to a Phase 3 Pharmacy Tech at Kroger and is taking the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board test this November to fulfill the requirement to be a Lead Tech. She also wants to come back to National College and complete the associate’s degree pharmacy technician program.
Her advice to future graduates: do not give up, stay focused, and study!
