Helping Hands

Sabrina Davis was a licensed massage therapist looking to expand her knowledge in the medical field when she became one of the first students at the Knoxville Campus when it opened in 2003. Once she got into it, she soon decided to enroll in the medical assisting program, and she became one of the first graduates in the spring of 2004. She’s now employed as a medical assistant in a busy practice in Knoxville.

“I started work here as soon as I graduated,” she says.

“This is a wonderful place to work.”

Sabrina conducts patient interviews, triage, takes vital signs, performs lab work and other tests: “I do pretty much everything any of the nurses here do.”

She credits her National College instructors, including Director of Healthcare Education Rhonda Epps, with giving her the education she needed to succeed. “They were just wonderful instructors; I had a lot of good background there,” she says. “It prepared me a lot to come straight to work.”

Sabrina has been eager to continue her education even on the job. “The physician’s assistant I work for is awesome,” she exclaims. “He’s taught me so much.”

Is she glad her search for knowledge led her to a new career field?

“I just love what I do,” Sabrina says. “I love being able to help people.”
