This Man Means Business
Julius Chambers, a recent graduate from the Cincinnati Campus with an associate degree in business administration-management, knows how to set goals and achieve them. After getting to “see the world” in the U.S. Navy, he decided that he wanted a career in the travel industry, and knew he needed an education to achieve that goal. A visit to the Cincinnati Campus, just blocks from his home, convinced him that National was the right place to begin his quest.
Julius found the quality of his National College instructors uniformly impressive. “I loved them all…I respected all of my instructors, and they respected me,” he recalled. “I was able to meet with instructors…if I needed tutoring, they were always willing to help.”
Everything I learned in two years at National, I’m using those skills
Julius sees his current position, as front desk concierge for the Quality Inn & Suites–Cincinnati, as a stepping stone in his travel industry career. Lest anyone underestimate his responsibilities, Julius emphasizes that he has to be prepared to handle a number of challenges. Customer service skills are extremely important, as are computer skills. Working the night shift, his audit responsibilities require financial and accounting skills as well. “Basically, everything I learned in two years at National, I’m using those skills,” he says.
He wasted no time in putting those skills to work, either. Finishing his degree requirements at the end of the spring term, he began his training the day he graduated – June 3. “I trained for 4 hours, put on my cap and gown, and headed out the door to graduation,” he chuckled.
With his National College education and a great entry-level job in his career field, Julius will be going places for sure!
