The Charlottesville Campus recently honored SNL Financial for being a Partner in Education. Student and SNL employee Takeya John proudly accepted the plaque on behalf of the financial services firm.
With a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mary Baldwin College, Takeya discovered a love for finances while working in the human services field. With the tuition assistance offered by her employer, SNL, she decided to go back to school to take the courses necessary to qualify for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
Takeya started taking courses in both the business administration-management and accounting programs in March of this year. She chose National College because she wanted to concentrate on only the classes she needed without wasting time. She said, “National’s terms allow me to finish the classes I need in half the time, compared to the traditional semesters at other colleges.” She anticipates being done in November of 2009.

Once Takeya fulfills the requirements, she will sit for the CPA exam. Afterwards she will go on to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA). She said, “[I]n a little over a year and half, I am able to take the classes I need [at National] to sit for the CPA exam. In addition, tackle the prerequisites I also need to apply for graduate school to work on my MBA. At a [another] college it would have taken me 2.5 to 3 years to complete.”
With her talent and drive, we know she can do it.
